For my headset microphone to work I need a USB 3D sound adapter driver for Windows 10

When I first started this blog I envisaged using it mainly for passing on tips and solutions I had found for myself in order to help others. I also realised I could appeal for help via the blog as well. That’s what I wish to do in this post. I need a USB 3D sound adapter Windows 10 driver.

I bought the USB 3D sound adapter on eBay and it’s widely available from Amazon and other online sellers. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to work and I have tried it on two different PCs; one laptop and one desktop. The reason for buying it was that my wife’s laptop, like many more recent models, only has one audio port to serve both a microphone and headphone functions.

I have several sets of headset microphones but they all have a pair of 3.5mm plugs, one for the microphone and one for the headphones. Julia uses her headset mic for her French language learning software, which involves voice recognition. Thinking about it, I reckoned a digital USB interface adapter would be a better solution to to a straight two into one adapter plug. I am now wondering if I made the right choice!

When I plug the adapter in to a USB port a red LED flashes and neither the connected microphone nor headphones work. I had previously verified that the headset worked fine when connected to a standard set of headphone and microphone ports.

The adapter is plug and play, so a driver should automatically appear and work. Looking at Windows Device Manager there is no flagged missing driver. Therefore, my assumption is that the default driver is not compatible. Forcing Windows to find a better driver does nothing. I’m using Windows 10 64-bit, incidentally. I have done a lot of Internet searching but so far I have not found a solution.

I have sought assistance from the eBay vendor I purchased the USB 3D sound adapter from and expect to get a response in the next 24 hours. I will update the post if I get any useful feedback. In the mean time if you have one of these adapters and solved the problem – please share how you did it!

Does the new device actually show up as a new recording and playback device, and have you actually changed the default playback and recording device to this one rather than the default audio port you were using before.
Have you tried running the TEST sound to make sure it is working and able to play sound?

As a side note, you know you can actually get USB headsets that plug directly into the USB port.
